There is a lot said about health care these days. With costs rising and no end in sight there is a bigger need than ever for everyone to have the coverage of a health care plan. Health car plans are basically like insurance that helps you cover medical costs. Like any insurance they are sometimes difficult to understand.
There are many types of health care plans available. Each type breaks down into two basic groups: group or individual. Group plans are the least expensive option. They are provided through an employer. Individual plans are offered through private companies and can cost much more than group plans because there are no group discounts to the provider. A National Health Care Plan Would Improve the Economy
Nothing irritates conservatives more than when Michael Moore refers to free healthcare. Obviously, it is not free, and the distraction only fuels the anti-liberal attacks that Moore takes on. Unfortunately, the political attacks don’t allow us to get down to the costs and a comprehensive cost benefit analysis comparing today’s health “system” and a proposed national health care plan.
Nothing represents more clearly our insistence on free market principles and competition than the way healthcare is delivered today. This is evident in every political debate for both parties. The Republicans bash “government run healthcare”, even though their party passed the Medicare bill in 2003. The Democrats are proposing mixed models, trying to preserve the godlike free market and profiteering of the major players involved. While Medicare provides medical benefits for a dramatically growing population that is aging and living longer, the rest of the working folks pretty much need to rely on their employers for health coverage. But the number of people privately insured is not as big as you think. In fact, about 60% of healthcare is publicly funded. (more…)
Health Care Planning
One of the foremost challenges faced by health care professionals is to formulate a well-devised, well-thought out plan for assisting both the patients as well as the health care givers. Care planning is an essential part of health care, but is often misunderstood or regarded as a waste of time. Without a specific document delineating the plan of care, important issues are likely to be neglected. Care planning provides a sort of ‘road map’, to guide all who are involved with the patient’s/resident’s care. The health care plan has long been associated with nursing; however, all health care professionals need to be assisted in the care giving process. In today’s world, highly expensive Health Insurance policies are not viable for most individuals. Therefore, the government needs to play a crucial part in ensuring that ‘health care’ is impartially and effectively provided to all citizens. (more…)
